Alchemy Lacquers: Swatches & Review

Hey guys! I'm back! Today I have a new indie polish brand called Alchemy Lacquers. I haven't swatched for them before and I'm glad I got to try them out because their polishes are so pretty! Let me just start off by saying that the formula and application is awesome, and the polishes are very unique.

I will be swatching her St. Patrick's Trio(well I only have two of the three), which will be released on Saturday, March 1st! You can find the rest at Alchemy Lacquers' etsy store. You can find the link at the end of the post.

Swatches after the jump!

  • St. Patrick's Green Trio:
    • White Clover: Mint creme with flux of green, silver sparkle, and green micro glitter.
    • Gilded Shamrocks: Glitter bomb with green and light green hexes in different sizes in a golden shimmer base.
  • Alchemical Imaginarium:
    • Chimera Mane: Nude polish with burgundy micro glitter and purple and golden shimmer.
    • Mermaid Scales: Teal crelly with teal, green, and golden hexes with golden shimmer.
  • Elixir No. 2: A duo chrome glitter topper with purple micro glitter and flakes that shift from violet to blue.

White Clover. 3 coats. I love any mint polish and this one is so perfect for St. Patricks day and spring as well. I like the green micro glitter and silver shimmer. The formula and application was ok, it was a bit thick but it wasn't really an issue.

Gilded Shamrocks. 4 coats no undies. I couldn't really capture how awesome this polish was. The golden shimmer is just so radiant but i love the different shades of green hexes in it. I thought i was going to need tons of coats for this one as well but it actually built up very nicely.

It's not this green, but I just wanted to show how radiant it is.

Chimera Mane. 3 coats. I've seen many nude polishes but none like this. The subtle shimmer that it has is such a nice touch. Formula and application is great as well I thought I would need more coats since it was sheer on the first coat but it built up nicely.

Mermaid Scales. 3 coats. I totally love mermaid inspired polishes and this one is no exception. The color is beautiful and the glitter combination is so pretty. I feel like I wasn't able to capture how awesome it is. I definitely see myself using this often. Formula and application is great, just make sure each coat dry because it does drag a bit.

Elixir No. 2. 1 coat over OPI Black Onyx. I love this glitter topper its so vibrant. The duo chrome is very strong. The formula and application is flawless. I only needed one coat since it is jam packed with glitter.

I totally recommend these polishes. The formula and application on these polishes are great and the polishes are really unique.
The St. Patricks Green Trio will be available Saturday March 1st. You can purchase these here. You can also follow them on Facebook and Instagram

Jior Couture: Pillow Talk- Swatches & Review

Hey guys! I have a quick post today. I bought my first ever Jior Couture polish a bit ago and I totally loved it! Check out the swatches after the jump! ( This is pretty picture heavy. Sorry, not sorry? lol)

Jior Couture recently handed out special discount codes to some of her followers and I was one of them! I was so excited so I checked their polishes right away and just fell in love with Pillow Talk, a red linear holographic polish part of her Valentine Collection. The rest of the collection was great and I would have gotten more, but I'm trying to cut back on buying polish but it's so hard! lol

Pillow Talk. 3 coats. I could have easily done two coats, but I just decided to do 3 for some reason. The formula and application was flawless and the holo is so strong! I love this shade of red, it's just perfect. I definitely be using this polish a lot. I've actually been wearing it for about 3 days!

And I also decided to do some nail art using  Pillow Talk as my base. I was inspired by @nailsofjessiek on instagram. She does awesome nail art using @teismom Nail Vinyls which you can purchase here. And since I recently purchased some, I decided to try them out! I used China Glaze I'm Not Lion for the pictures below.

China Glaze City Flourish Collection Spring 2014 Part 2: Peonies & Park Ave.

Hey guys! I finally have the second half of China Glaze City Flourish Collection. Sorry it took me a while, but I've been busy with work. Anyways, click on the read more link to see the swatches!

The second half of City Flourish is called Peonies & Park Ave. and it consists of 6 "creme" polishes:

  • Petal To The Metal: pink coral creme
  • Peonies & Park Ave: neon pink
  • Spring In My Step: baby pink creme
  • In A Lily Bit: light lilac creme with pink undertones
  • Lotus Begin: light purple creme
  • At Vase Value: pastel blue creme

Petal To The Metal. 3 coats. Out of the 6, this one had the best formula. It actually dried like a creme and not a chalky matte finish. I like this pink but it's nothing special.

Peonies & Park Ave. 3 coats. The formula was pretty streaky on this one as well. You can even it out with more coats and a thick top coat, but it's still a hassle. I really like this pink. I didn't think I would like it so much but the neon is awesome.

Spring In My Step. 3 coats. I love this pink! It does make my hand look really dark cause it's so light though. The formula was pretty bad, it was really streaky. I had to do thick coats and a thick top coat.

In A Lily Bit. 3 coats. This is one of my favorites out of this half of the collection. This purple is so pretty! It's so light, but the color still pops. But the formula was really streaky on this one too.

Lotus Begin. 3 coats. This is one of my favorites in the whole collection. I love purples and this shade of purple is just perfect. I don't think I have any thing like this in my collection but I'll have to check. If you want to see comparisons, just let me know down below.

At Vase Value. This is also one of my favorites in the whole collection. This blue is so pretty and soft, but yet bright. lol You just have to see it. The formula was pretty bad on this one too but a thick top coat helps a lot.

Overall, I loved this collection. The colors are bright and in your face which is what I love. But for someone looking for something more subtle, In A Lily Bit or Spring In My Step is perfect. But I was definitely disappointed in the formula. I mean, I'll still use them a lot and I would still buy them again, knowing that the formula sucks because the colors are great. But it's definitely a disappointment that China Glaze released something like this. They're workable, but it's just a hassle.

These are available for purchase now.

Have a great night guys! I'm off to watch Real World Ex-Plosion!

China Glaze: City Flourish Collection- Pollen In Love: Swatches & Review Part 1

Hey guys! The weekend is over again huh? It's bitter sweet for me cause I love watching Walking Dead and I can never wait to see what's going to happen next but then that means that the weekend is over ): Anyways, off to the swatches...

I have the new China Glaze City Flourish Collection to show you, well the Pollen In Love half. I'd have to saw that I like the other half more because of the pretty pastels(Peonies & Park Ave) but the formula was pretty bad in that one. I really do like the colors in this half of the collection. Here's a list of them and their descriptions:

  • Don't Honk Your Thorn: beige nude with silver shimmer
  • Metro Pollen-tin: mustard yellow cream
  • Grass Is Lime-Greener: light lime green creme
  • What A Pansy: periwinkle creme that leans more purple than blue
  • Strike A Rose: magenta pink with a slight shimmer
  • Thistle Do Nicely: neon pink creme

Don't Honk Your Thorn. 3 coats. This is one of the two shimmers in the collection. I really do like this one. It's a nice nude and the shimmer is a nice touch. The formula was ok, it wasn't that problematic but it was just slightly goopy. It does look slightly more beige IRL but I guess my skin tone makes it look a lot lighter.

Metro Pollen-Tin. 3 coats. This yellow is pretty awesome, I don't know, I'm just a fan of yellow. But I don't know if I like this with my skin tone. What do you guys think? The formula was pretty streaky on this one, it did even out on the third coat but I had to do a pretty thick coat.

Grass Is Lime-Greener. 3 coats. This polish was so hard to photograph. The actual color of this is so pretty, a bit more pastel. It's like a pastel and a neon at the same time, but more pastel lol. I don't know if that makes sense. In my pictures though, it comes out really neon. So frustrating! The formula was pretty streaky on this one too. It sucks cause this color is so pretty!

What A Pansy. 2 coats. I love this polish! The color is so pretty, kinda reminds me of Fancy Pants from China Glaze Avant Garden Spring collection from last year, but I don't think it's a dupe. If you would like me to make a comparison, leave a comment below and I will (: Anyways, the formula was great. It was a true creme and didn't have a matte finish like all the other polishes. (Also, it's a bit darker and more blue than it's showing)

Strike A Rose. 3 coats. This is the second shimmer in the collection. This pink is pretty, but nothing special. As I'm sitting here writing this post, I just realized that almost half of this collection is pinks. but we'll discuss that later, just a thought. The formula and application was good.

Thistle Do Nicely. 3 coats. I really like this neon pink. It does look kind of similar  to something that CG has done before, I'll have to check. If you would like to see a comparison post just let me know down below. This was so hard to photograph though, the neon was just making my camera go crazy! The only way that I could capture a color accurate picture was by using flash. I don't think I've taken a picture of my nails with flash in like forever! Probably only when I started my IG account. The formula on this polish was streaky and dried matte, but with 3 coats and a thick top coat I was apply to smooth it out.

Overall, I really liked this half of the collection. There was a nice variety of colors. The formula and application wasn't great though. The polishes were streaky and would dry fast because they would dry matte. They are workable though, it just depends on whether you think it's worth babying them so much. These are available now for purchase.

Will you guys be picking up any of these?

Cinema Swatch Lacquer: The Notebook Collection- Swatches & Review

Hey guys! Happy Valentine's Day! I hope you guys had a great day yesterday!

Today I have an awesome collection by Cinema Swatch Lacquer inspired by The Notebook. And it's as awesome as it sounds. Cinema Swatch Lacquer is a fairly new indie polish brand but they do what I always wanted indie polish brands to do, make collections based on movies! So far, Cinema Swatch Lacquer has done collections based on The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Wizard Of Oz, and Zombieland just to name a few. And the formula has been great which is always important.

The Notebook collection consists of 6 polishes:

  • All Of You, Forever: Light pink crelly with red and fuchsia micro glitter and fuchsia shimmer.
  • Broken: Black jelly with fuchsia micro glitter, orange flakies and large red hearts.
  • You Wrote Me?: Pearly white polish with silver micro glitter and blue flakies.
  • Get In The Water: Blue teal with turquoise shimmer and hexes.
  • If You're A Bird I'm A Bird: Cherry red base with red silver and fuchsia micro glitter.
  • Where Home Is: Blue jelly packed with blue flecks.
All Of Your, Forever: 3 coats. This is my second favorite from this collection. I have a lot of pink polishes but I don't have anything like this. The fuchsia shimmer is a nice touch and the glitter combination is just so pretty. Formula and application was great.

Broken: 2 coats. I thought I was going to need tons of coats for this one but I only needed 2. I really like this polish but I wish application would have been a bit easier with the red hearts. Everything else was great, but the red hearts were hard to catch on my brush. Maybe if there were a bit more it would have been easier.

black jellies are super hard to capture so I edited this picture to show the glitter better.

You Wrote Me?: 4 coats. This one was a bit sheer but it did build up nicely. I wasn't as drawn to it at the beginning but after I wore it I really liked it. The silver micro glitter and the blue flecks are a really nice touch.

Get In The Water: 3 coats. This polish is really opaque and it really does remind me of water especially with the turquoise shimmer. I wish I would have been able to grab more hexes onto my brush but overall its a really nice polish.

If You're A Bird, I'm A Bird: 3 coats. I like the micro glitter in this polish. The formula and application was great.

Where Home Is: 3 coats. This has got to be my favorite out of the collection. The shade of blue is just perfect and the blue flecks just add so much depth. Formula and application was a breeze.

This is how dark it actually is but I wanted to show the blue flecks better

How awesome is this polish!?

Overall I really enjoyed this collection. It has a really nice variety of colors and finishes. Cinema Swatch Lacquers is very unique and creative and I totally recommend trying them out, I mean even the bottles are different and unique!
